If You Are Involved In A Motor Vehicle Accident

  • Seek medical attention immediately if you are injured and continue to visit your doctor on a regular basis for as long as your injuries last.
  • Keep a diary and record your injuries, episodes of pain and out of pocket expenses.
  • Notify Police to give a statement
  • Get the name, address and telephone number of any witnesses who may have been present at the scene.
  • Obtain the name, address, telephone number and insurance information of the other driver
  • DO NOT discuss the accident with anyone or admit that you were at fault.
  • DO NOT speak to an adjuster without first speaking to a lawyer.

Damages

The amount of any damages you are entitled to often depends on the nature of your injury and the amount of your expenses. You are entitled to damages for pain and suffering, and in addition, loss of earnings or loss of earning capacity may add to your claim. There may also be other damages, such as damages to compensate for the loss of an ability to perform household tasks, for which you may also be entitled. In certain cases, you may also be entitled to damages to compensate for the cost of future medical care. Each case is unique, however, and should be discussed with a lawyer. The Lorway MacEachern McLeod Burke Personal Injury Law Team will take the time to carefully evaluate the monetary value of your claim and work with you to ensure the maximum possible dollar recovery.
